Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 September 2026.
This privacy policy explains what we do with the personal information you give us through this website. It covers www.marettschariots.co.uk and any enquiry, call or booking that starts here.
Who we are
This website is run by AFSC LIMITED, trading as Marett's Chariots, which provides coach and minibus hire across Norfolk and the UK, company number 06342600. Our office is at Fortune House, Laundry Loke, North Walsham, Norfolk, NR28 0BD. We are the data controller for the information described below, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.
You can reach us by email at info@marettschariots.co.uk or by phone on 01603 298086. You can also write to us at our office address above.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number, when you request a quote or contact us.
- Journey details: where you are travelling from and to, travel dates and times, passenger numbers, the service or vehicle you are interested in, and any special requirements you tell us about.
- Payment records: the amount you paid, when, and how. If you pay by card online, the payment is handled by our payment provider (SumUp); we never see or store your full card details. If you pay by bank transfer, we see the payment reference on our bank statement. We take no payment details through this website.
- Technical information: basic information your browser sends when you visit, used to keep the site secure and working.
Please do not send us anything sensitive, such as health information, unless it is needed for your journey (for example, accessibility needs you want us to plan for).
Our website is measured with privacy-friendly analytics that count visits without identifying anybody. That produces totals, not a record about you.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use. Ours are:
- Providing quotes and fulfilling bookings: contacting you about your quote, taking payment and running your journey. Lawful basis: necessary for a contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering one.
- Keeping business, accounting and tax records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- Responding to enquiries and protecting the website from spam and abuse. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running the business and keeping the site secure.
We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a marketing list off the back of an enquiry. If we ever want to send you marketing, we will ask first, and you can stop it at any time.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of suppliers who handle information on our behalf, under contract, and only on our instructions:
- My Webby builds and hosts this website and passes your enquiry to us. Enquiries are stored on servers in the United Kingdom.
- Our email provider carries the message telling us you have been in touch, and our reply to you.
- SumUp processes card payments when you choose to pay online.
Beyond that, we share your details only where we have to: with our accountant, or where the law requires it. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens the transfer is protected by a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
Cookies
This website sets no tracking cookies at all. Our analytics are cookieless: they count a visit without storing anything on your device and without building a profile of you. That is why you are not asked to accept anything when you arrive.
How long we keep it
We keep information for no longer than we need it. In practice that means:
- Quote requests that do not become bookings: up to 2 years, so we can help quickly if you come back to us.
- Bookings and payment records: 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required for UK tax and accounting.
- General enquiries: up to 12 months after the enquiry is resolved.
- Website analytics: totals only, with nothing that identifies you.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to booking data is limited to the people who need it, and our suppliers are required to protect the data they process for us.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be told what we do with your information, which is what this page is for;
- see a copy of the information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete;
- have it deleted, where we no longer need it for the reasons above;
- restrict how we use it while a question about it is sorted out;
- object to us using it, including for any marketing;
- have it moved to you or another provider in a portable form.
We do not make any decision about you by automated means, and we do not profile you.
To use any of these rights, email info@marettschariots.co.uk. We will respond within one month, and it costs you nothing. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we do not hand your details to somebody else.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. Complaining to us first does not affect that right.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
